THE VOLAND METHOD

Не просто знать, что делать.
Понимать — почему.

Готовый ответ решает одну ситуацию. Понимание помогает решать следующие.

HOW THE METHOD WORKS ↓

From a single mistake — to a decision-making system

01

Diagnostics

First, we determine not just a list of mistakes, but exactly where the decision-making logic breaks down.

02

Logic Breakdown

Every decision is viewed through the factors that determine it.

Not: «You should have bet here».
But: «Why is a bet better here?»

03

Assembling Knowledge into a System

Charts. Theory. Math. Opponents. Dynamics. Psychology. Context.
Individually, this is just information.

04

Practice for the Specific Player

Different players have different growth areas.
Therefore, the content and sequence of work are determined not by a universal program, but by the diagnostic results, the player's level, their goals, and repeating mistakes.

05

Testing in New Situations

Understanding is verified not by repeating an already analyzed example, but by the player independently explaining their decision and its cause in a new spot.

The exact same action can be right in one situation and a mistake in another.

In tournament poker, a decision depends on context. Position, stack sizes, tournament structure, opponents' actions, ranges, dynamics, and many other factors can change the choice. Therefore, it is impossible to prepare a player for all future situations with a set of ready-made instructions. BUT we can teach them to understand which factors are important and how they change the decision.
This is exactly what allows them to transfer the acquired knowledge to situations that have never been analyzed before.

The method remains the same. The path is individual.

The principles of analysis and decision-making are universal, but the growth points of players differ. One needs to learn to notice more factors. Another needs to stop making decisions automatically. A third needs to tie already accumulated knowledge into a cohesive system. Therefore, the work is built around the real causes of a specific player's mistakes, not a pre-set generic training plan.

Not by the number of topics studied. But by the quality of decisions.

Progress is evident when the player is able to:

  • •independently identify significant factors;
  • •explain the logic behind their decision;
  • •see the root cause of a mistake;
  • •understand under what conditions the decision should change;
  • •apply the same principle in a new situation.

The method determines how the training is built. The format determines how you work with it.

Individual mentorship, video courses, and group trainings use the general principles of the methodology but differ in depth, interaction format, and goals.
